Chef David Pu is from Sichuan, a south-western province of China acclaimed for its spicy and fragrant cuisine. 'My passion for cooking came from my mother. When I was a child I used to spend plenty of time observing her in the kitchen. By the age of seven, I was cooking meals for the family and it was then that I decided to pursue the culinary profession in earnest. Even as young boy, I was determined to assume the role of a good provider'. Before moving to Doha, Chef David was already part of the Shangri-La family in Fiji and Beijing. 'As head of the culinary team at Shanghai Club, I wish to elevate Chinese cuisine in the capital with authentic techniques that draw upon Shanghainese and Cantonese traditions.'
